You don't really want to ascend below level 15, do you?
I believe i have a valid argument in saying that its pointless to ascend below lvl 15, because i myself have ascended at lvl 12 (not that it means anything its quite easy). *note: this doesnt count the bonus, which gives u 100k xp, also its quite impossible to get the bonus under level 15 anyway*
Say your lvl 10 when you ascend, and you become level 15 or 16 or so. Congratulations, youve just wasted a whole ascension for the simple reason that its MUCH HARDER to get from lvl 15-20 then it is from 10-15. People that ascend at low levels are faced with the problem that now they need to get to lvl 20, which can take some time since your not gettin in any dragon's lair parties at lvl 18 or below. power lvling at lvl 15+ also costs about 2k+ a level. if you have money to spare thats great, but if you do a few quests or do the jungle quests you can get from lvl 10-15 in no time. Not to mention that its only about 1k for 10-15. Compare getting from lvl 10-15 or so as oppose to 17-20. People at lvl 17+ are still doing the ascension missions, and thats your best bet for xp, but im not talking about 1 mission. 5 thirsty rivers wont level you that far, but its probably the best choice considering the boss xp and so. Also its kindof annoying to do low lvl missions like the jungle just to level up, in my oppinion.
However, if they ascended at a low level theve probably had the money to spare for mission runs so go right ahead and waste ur money. After all, time is money.

No but for completely different reasons. The number of skill points you get for 50k xp at lvl 20 is very nice and feels rewarding.
All they have to do is go back and do all the quests they skip and they can get to lvl 20 no problem, of if they skipped missions, 1k each mission they skipped.
A lot of people offer running for tips so it can be very cheap to get through most of the game now.
Some jobs, monk comes to mind where if you are sub level (but not too low) can get in missions if they are decent in healing due to lack of monk players.

I found it hard to ascend at lv17 but did and jumped to lv20. But I was in a hurry lol. Usually I'll ascend at lv20 and get a pile of skill points since it only takes 15k experience to get new points. You get a lot this way.

The only reason people ascend at low levels is because they're on their 20th character or so and they're sick of the same missions and storyline. They're trying to get as much xp as fast as they can.

Yup, that's why I ascended when I was lvl 10 once. I almost got the bonus, too!

I disagree. It's not exactly a great thing to suddenly gain 20hp because of a level up while fighting as a 55.

It still helps, for that first few runs. When one thing dies in the UW, most of the stuff you're fighting tends to die with it at the same time, and even when they dont, you tend to not need as little health when you're fighting fewer foes. Then add in some skillful manipulation of -50, -20 and regular focii, and you're set!

Uh, some of you like ascending at 20... To get a whole bunch of skill points.... 3? Thats a whole bunch? I can get more than that in FOW and making up missions ive missed. I suppose 3 points is ok in one sitting, but thats not a lot. I had a guild member ascend at 11 or 12, only got to 17. Before the patch, in the good days, I ascended 3 of my 4 characters on 10 or less, and was put on 20... I loved it. Now I ascend my guys, cause Im tired of waiting, been through the game too many times now.

Hi, I play a game called Guild Wars where getting to level 20 takes between 1 - 3 days.
Which game are you playing?

50k experience is 50k experience. Killing the doppleganger gives you 50k experience period. There is no sliding scale, the reward is finite.
I received the bonus last night while ascending a level 7 necro, so it is not impossible. Threads on this very forum explain how easily with certain skill sets this is accomplished.

That's if you choose to blow through the game, get power leveled, get runs, and just generally ignore the entire storyline.
I started playing Guild Wars about two weeks ago. The first week was spent fooling around in Pre-searing with many different characters to get a feel for the game and to find the class I liked the best. Week two has been spent leveling up and doing missions. Currently my Elementalist/Monk (really just Elementalist, I don't use the Monk skills) is level 11 and somewhere between 30-40% of the way to level 12...
Some of us actually enjoy playing Guild Wars for the Guild Wars experience, instead of playing it for gold and bragging rights. When I finally do get the ability to go for Ascension, I'm going to wait until I hit level 20 to do it.
Hardcore PvE player for life. Live the Dream! Play pen-and-paper!
I should make that into a signature or something...

Roleplaying with stats? Why?
On topic, I see no reason not to ascend early. I did it at 12 on my newest character, and it's incredibly easy to gain those last couple levels just going out Grawl-hunting in Witman's Folly.

So funny. On the one hand we have people complaining there's no end game content to speak of, on the other we have people rushing through the game to get to the end quick.

i think ascending early is good. i ascended at lvl 13 and i got the bonus. i forgot how much lvls i gained, think i got 16. if u wear droks armor vs phisical and use the proper skills, u get the bonus
as for lvl 16-20 it's very easy. get some XP scrolls and just do 2 man UW (if ur a monk or necro) or 3 man UW if ur some other profesion.
